THE MESSIANIC PILGRIMAGE

Life Season

About two years ago I drove from Fes into the Atlas Mountains. I remember coming round one corner in the road and looking down into the valley and being amazed at the beauty. It was breathtaking.

Years earlier, I had driven up into the mountains of Kurdistan in northern Iraq. So different yet so beautiful.

Years earlier still, I also drove in the Rocky Mountains in America and saw the Grand Canyon. Even the splendour of Gibraltar rising from the sea on the south of Spain gives me a shiver of delight. Mountains are a marvel of God’s creation. How great is God that he made all this.

Water has such amazing power. The waterfalls around the world rush tonnes of water gushing over the precipice to tumble and crash below. I’ve sailed in a storm. The power of the wind and the water terrify me as I realise how small I am in the wide ocean… How great is God that he made all this.

There is a salt lake near us and every year flamingos arrive in the late autumn. The lake usually dries out in the summer and has water in the winter. How do the flamingos know there will be water here? Where have they come from? How did they navigate?

Slowly as they eat the crustrations in the lake they turn pink. The lake becomes a stunning swathe of colour… How great is God that he made all this!

Yet in all this God cares for you and me. He loves us. Each of us individually. Like a father loves his child. He is our father in heaven. He created this earth for us to enjoy. How great is God!
